Anyways now that I have that out of the way..
Here is an update on my chickens.
They layed their first egg 8/12 while we were in Utah. I kind of had a feeling they would do it then.... I was really disappointed too. I mean I didn't even get a picture of their first egg or anything *sniff..
I am lame but their like my kids. Its a love hate relationship tho.. like today at 6am they were squawking for no dang reason and Ethan didn't have a good night either so grumpy Wendi is not a good combo! I love them just cause their fun. They are really good with Ethan and he always without doubt tried to feed them rocks. It makes me laugh!
Here he is doing just that:
Here is their first 'real' egg. I say that because they start laying really really small eggs. This egg was a double yoker!!! Ok.. It made me feel better about missing their first egg okay :)
We usually get 3 eggs a day and Ethan seems to be doing well on them. Hurray! We use all our eggs pretty much that day or the next day! Once you've been off eggs for a long time I've been going egg crazzy. I missed them that's for sure!
Matt likes the chickens too
He looks grumpy but he just didn't want his picture taken. He says their better than a dog because you don't have to walk them ever! Ha, Its so true!
They have been learning new tricks lately too. We've clipped their wings but they grow back really fast. I think it was after Utah I found them up on the fence trying to sleep! Their is a dog behind us so I'm surprised they didn't care. They've also jumper over the green fence, the one with Ethan feeding them. While we were in Utah 2 got out and ate half my aloe vera plant which they seem to love! And they also kind of ruined my garden the few times they got out.. But really I like having them besides the really loud mornings.(Sorry neighbors! I spray them with water to shut them up!)
I told Matt that next we will do meat birds. Yes all the chicken eating jokes could come true! He won't let me do them here at the house but in the next house I will! And I told him he has to process them.
My dream is to have a farm someday. (Weird I know!) But getting eggs in my backyard and milk from my cow is really cool to me and I want my kids to know where their food comes from.
Next post...Papa!

We had chickens growing up and we loved them. Ours could fly wherever but never ran away or anything. But the worst part was when we were being bad my dad threatened to feed them to us for dinner. He never did but it was enough to scare us! We also had a duck, turtle, and a rabbit to complete our happy little family.
Haha! The first sentence of this post makes me laugh. I like you. And I like chickens. =)
ahhh, totally want a farm one day! i had three little chicks in high school - Kentuck, Fried, and Chicken haha :)
